Welcome to Downtown Dogs PDF Print E-mail

I’m Carmen and I’ll be your proprietor today. Downtown Dogs opened November 21, 2005. I wasn’t intending to own a restaurant but once I decided to do it, I also decided to make it the very best I could. While the menu is common, hamburgers and hot dogs, what’s inside is not.

The Restaurant

The space is in a building constructed in 1940. As much as possible, the interior is decorated with furniture and pictures that harken to this earlier time. The atmosphere is relaxed. You place your order at the counter and then have a seat while your food is prepared and brought to your table. Well, most days anyway. If it’s really busy we’ll take your name and YELL it out (with that voice your mom tells you not to use in the house) when your food is ready to eat.

The Food

coneydog2One thing about owning your own small business is that you spend a lot of time, and I mean a lot! of time at your business. I eat three meals a day here but what that means for you is good food. If I can’t stand to eat it, you won’t see it on the menu. So, the burgers are made of ground chuck, fresh from the butcher. Quite a few hot dogs were tested before deciding on what would be served. The result is this frequent comment from small children: “that’s the best hot dog I’ve ever had!” For you chili dog connoisseurs, we serve a bean-less, Detroit-style chili on our dogs. For those on meat-less diets we have GardenBurger®-brand veggie burgers and Yves®-brand jumbo vegan dogs. The fries are, to quote Linda Richman, “to die for!” (and you have to say that with a Jersey accent). To top it off, every order is made fresh and served hot.

The Prices

The prices are reasonable because eating downtown shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg. Who wants to pay $8.95 for a hamburger? Well, maybe you do, but I don’t. Yet, franchised food discounts aren’t possible, so prices fall somewhere in the middle. You can check the prices out on the “Menu” page and find other offerings on the “Specials” page.

The Fun

We don’t get too wild and crazy here but Downtown Dogs is a fun place to work and eat. Part of the fun is the customers and I get to share that fun with you in the Photo Gallery. If you have a Downtown Dogs shirt and you have your picture taken wearing it at a Hot Dog Restaurant outside of the Tri-Cities area and are the first person to bring in a picture of that location, you will receive a free hot dog.

But wait, there’s more… You’ll also get to meet the staff and find out their favorite Downtown Dog menu item.
